COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Police were taping off a parking lot in Colorado Springs Tuesday afternoon after an apparent gun battle.

Officers were called to a report of shots fired at about 2:25 p.m. at a gas station parking lot off S. Murray Boulevard and Airport Road. The area is to the east of S. Academy Boulevard.

Early into the investigation, police believe a man and a woman walked up to the front of the store. At one point, police believe the people on foot started firing shots, possibly targeting a black sedan parked in front. Two men then exited the sedan, according to police, and returned fire. All of the people involved fled the scene and no shooting victims were found.

The investigation is ongoing.
