COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Governor Jared Polis announced the names of five Colorado teens who will be getting $50,000 each.

You can watch the announcement at the top of this article.

It’s part of the state’s cash incentive for vaccinations. This is for minors ages 12 to 17 who were vaccinated against COVID-19. The drawings will happen every week for the next five weeks, meaning $1,250,000 will be given out in total to 25 lucky teens.

The scholarships come from federal funding provided to the state for the specific purpose of promoting the vaccination efforts.

Some details: The money for the winners will go into a college investment account that can be accessed when the winners are college eligible, and because it’s in an investment account, that money could grow over time.

June 10th marks the first of the five drawings for scholarship winners.
