COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Colorado Springs Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened in a Kohl’s parking lot, just off of I-25 Friday morning.

It happened just before 11 a.m.

Police say the victim is in stable condition. Crime tape surrounded a big portion of the parking lot near S. Circle Drive and I-25.

Police tell 11 News there is no description on the suspect yet, but there is no active threat to the community.

One witness tells us that she hid in the bathroom in the store once she heard what was going on, while another watched from his construction job across the street.

“I was working right behind you there, it’s a three floor storage unit building there. I was on the lift," Darryl Allen, a witness said. "And I heard some pop, pop, pop and this young man ran this way with a hoodie on and a red vehicle, a red Ford Fusion came here and I heard four more shots...pop, pop, pop. I saw the sparks out of the window.”

Police say they don’t have any suspect info at this time but there is not threat to the public, but still has some people worried

“I waited until the cops came and I let them know. And my wife shops here with my son and it just sucks," Allen said. "City boys and city problems you just got to be careful. If you know something talk up, we all live here. This is our city, you know what I mean? All our kids are safe. Protect your kids.”
